The Golden Triangle - The Lisu Lodge & Chiang Rai (3 Days / 2 Nights)
Experience the magnificent hill tribe villages and visit 'Sop Ruak', the official centre of the Golden Triangle where the borders of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos meet, at the confluence of the Ruak and Mekong River.
Itinerary
DAY 1 You will be picked up from your hotel in Chiang Mai in the morning and driven to the mountain temple of Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, the most famous landmark of Chiang Mai. Then drive to visit the 'Hill Tribe Museum' (closed on Saturday, Sunday and Public holiday) and learn about the different mountain people who live in Thailand. Continue to visit an Orchid Farm en route to the Lisu Lodge. On arrival at the Lodge a traditional welcome drink will be served with a Thai lunch. After lunch, our Lisu 'guide' will take you for a walk through the village. You will start from Ton Lung Temple to view the herbal garden then continue to visit some local families with a stop for a cup of tea and a spot of traditional medicine at the shaman's house. Afterwards visit the cultural centre or so called the 'museum' created by the villagers. Inside you will find a collection of typical household items and tools used by the Lisu and Akha mountain tribes. Receive a massage before time for Thai dinner and a traditional Lisu dance show.

DAY 2 After breakfast at the lodge, leave Lisu Lodge and continue to Chiang Dao Elephant Camp. Upon arrival experience elephant riding and bamboo rafting. Continue to Tha Ton for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, drive to Doi Mae Salong for a visit of Akha, Chinese Kuomintang and Yao hill tribe villages. Then drive to the Golden Triangle via Mae Chan. Check-in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 3 After breakfast, visit the Golden Triangle and Hall of Opium before taking a boat trip along the mighty Mekong River, the longest river in South-East Asia, which separates Thailand and Laos. Then drive to Mae Sai for lunch at a local restaurant and visit this border town. Leave Mae Sai for Doi Tung Royal Project. Upon arrival visit Doi Tung Royal Palace and Mae Fah Luang Garden. Afterwards continue to Chiang Rai where the tours ends.
